Newtox is the name given to Jeuveau™, the newest cosmetic neuromodulator to be approved by the FDA. Like Dysport® and BOTOX® Cosmetic, the active ingredient in Jeuveau is botulinum toxin A. However, Jeuveau undergoes a proprietary purification process with “Hi-Pure” technology, allowing the formula to retain higher potency, potentially offering greater efficacy than other neuromodulators on the market today.
How does Newtox work?
Neuromodulators work to interrupt signals between muscles and nerves that cause involuntary muscle tension. By targeting that specific function, Newtox injections allow muscles to relax, enabling their overlying skin to become smooth – all without impacting muscle function such as facial expressions, eating, and speaking.
Where can Newtox be injected?
Newtox has been approved for the treatment of glabellar lines – those vertical lines in between the eyebrows that are also known as “frown lines.” The product can also be used to address:
- Horizontal Lines on the Forehead
- Crow’s Feet Next to the Eyes
- Bunny Lines on the Bridge of the Nose
- Top Lip Lines
- Marionette Lines
- Pebbled Chin
- Neck Lines and Bands
The best way to learn where Newtox would be useful for you is through a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Jayesh Panchal at one of the OKC area offices of Genesis Plastic Surgery & Medical Spa.
How long does Newtox Last?
As with other neuromodulators, Newtox injections will produce results for three to four months. You can maintain your results by visiting our office at regularly scheduled intervals throughout the year. How often those should be spread apart will be based on your specific goals.
Do I have to keep getting injections?
To maintain results from Jeuveau, continued treatment will be needed, but many people choose this treatment for one-time, special occasion facial rejuvenation. Newtox can help boost confidence and improve comfort at weddings, reunions, and other special events, and there is no risk of speeding the aging process with use. Newtox treatment will smooth your fine lines and deep wrinkles temporarily. Once the active ingredient has left your body however, your skin will simply return to the exact state it was in prior to treatment.
Is Newtox safe?
Words like “neuromodulator” and “botulinum toxin a” can sound pretty scary, but the truth is, Jeuveau, like BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport®, is safe for most patients. While there are some contraindications and certain conditions that may interfere with treatment, a majority of people can safely undergo Newtox treatment.
Redness at the injection site, minor discomfort, and swelling may all be present for a few days after Newtox treatment. These issues should subside on their own. Major reactions and adverse side effects are extremely rare. Dr. Panchal can discuss this in greater detail during your initial consultation.
Am I a good candidate for Newtox?
If you are dissatisfied with the appearance of fine lines and deep wrinkles on your face, you may be a good candidate for Newtox. This treatment can safely eliminate signs of aging from the forehead, next to the eyes, and around the mouth to produce a smoother and more youthfully attractive look that lasts for several months at a time.
Newtox is a nonsurgical facial rejuvenation treatment that offers one very specific result. There are other nonsurgical options, such as dermal fillers, that are better suited to address signs of aging Jeuveau is not formulated to correct. During your initial consultation, Dr. Panchal will take time to carefully evaluate your problem areas, listen closely to your concerns, and guide you towards the most effective treatment for your needs.
